This is a half day tour which includes visits to native Fijian village of Bavu, their native land occupied by ethnic Indians in the village of Nawai, drive to historic site of Momi Gun site and local Indian temple.

Things to Experience

Indian Temple: You will arrive at local Indian temple in the village of Nawai. This is well regarded by locals in this region. It holds annual traditional prayers and songs for the prosperity of individuals, village harmony and the community wellbeing.

Fijian Village: The establishment of this village of Bavu dates back to many decades with chiefly tradition still in place. You will see traditional Fijian homes, ancient style cooking using forest woods and stones, community gathering house and old village protocols still in place.

Momi Gun site: Established in 1941 by NZ battalion to protect Fiji against Japanese attacks during world war II, now gun site is a museum. Fantastic hilltop views to the ocean and beaches, spectacular surrounding sceneries. It is just wonderful to step out and feel the difference.

Nawai Drive Through: Early Indian farming settlement in Nawai during British governance resulted in hundreds of sugar cane farmers establishing their homes, families, schools and facilities in this region, producing sugar cane as their key business. A once thriving village is now ‘abandoned’ after 1987 Fijian coup with early farmers with their families settling elsewhere abroad, leaving behind mix of sugar cane plantation, green bushland, banana plantations, mango and coconut trees.
